श्रीगुरु चरण सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधार।
बरनौ रघुबर बिमल यशु, जो दायकु फल चारि।
I clean the mirror of my mind with the dust of the lotus feet of my guru, and narrate the pure fame of Lord Ram, which bestows the four rewards of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha).
जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुण सागर।
जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर।
राम दूत अतुलित बलधामा।
अंजनि पुत्र पवनसुत नामा।
Hail Hanuman, the ocean of knowledge and virtues! Hail the Lord of the monkeys, the illuminator of the three worlds! You are the messenger of Ram, the repository of immeasurable strength, and the son of Anjani and the wind god.
महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी।
कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी।
कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा।
कानन कुण्डल कुंचित केसा।
You are the great and powerful Hanuman, who is as mighty as the thunderbolt. You dispel evil thoughts and are the companion of good thoughts. You are adorned in golden attire, wearing earrings and with curly hair.
हाथ बज्र और ध्वजा बिराजै।
काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै।
संकर सुवन केसरी नंदन।
तेज प्रताप महा जग बन्दन।
In your hand, you hold the thunderbolt and the flag. You wear the sacred thread and are the son of Lord Shiva and Kesari. Your radiance and glory are adored by the entire world.
विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर।
राम काज करिबे को आतुर।
प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया।
राम लखन सीता मन बसिया।
You are learned, virtuous, and supremely clever, ever eager to execute Lord Rama’s tasks. You delight in hearing the Lord’s deeds and dwell in the hearts of Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita.
सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा।
विकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा।
भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे।
रामचन्द्र के काज सवारे।
You assumed a tiny form to reveal yourself to Sita, then a terrible form to set Lanka ablaze. You took a colossal form to slay demons and carried out Lord Rama’s mission flawlessly.
लाय संजीवन लखन जियाये।
श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाये।
रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई।
तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई।
You brought the life-restoring herb to revive Lakshmana, winning the joyous embrace of Lord Rama. Rama extolled you greatly and declared you as dear to him as his brother Bharata.
सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं।
अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं।
सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा।
नारद सारद सहित अहीसा।
A thousand mouths hymn your glory, and Rama Himself hugged you, saying so. Sanaka and the sages, Brahma, Narada, Saraswati, and Shesha all join in singing your praise.
जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते।
कवि कोविद कहि सके कहाँ ते।
तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहि कीन्हा।
राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा।
Even Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the directions, or the greatest poets and scholars, cannot fully describe your glory. You aided Sugriva by introducing him to Rama and secured his throne.
तुम्हरो मंत्र विभीषण माना।
लंकेश्वर भए सब जग जाना।
जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू।
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू।
Vibhishana heeded your counsel and became king of Lanka, known throughout the world. You leapt thousands of leagues to the sun and swallowed it, mistaking it for a sweet fruit.
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीँ।
जलधि लाँघि गये अचरज नाहीँ।
दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते।
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते।
Holding Rama’s ring in your mouth, you crossed the ocean—what a marvel! All difficult tasks in the world become easy through your grace.
राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे।
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे।
सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना।
तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना।
You stand guard at Rama’s door; none may enter without your leave. Those who take refuge in you obtain every joy and have no fear under your protection.
आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै।
तीनों लोक हाँक ते काँपै।
भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै।
महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै।
You control your own might, yet the three worlds tremble at your roar. Ghosts and evil spirits stay far away when they hear the mighty name “Hanuman.”
नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा।
जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा।
संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै।
मन क्रम वचन ध्यान जो लावै।
All diseases vanish and all pain is banished by constant chanting of your name, brave Hanuman! You free those from every danger who remember you in thought, word, and deed.
सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा।
तिनके काज सकल तुम साजा।
और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै।
सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै।
Lord Rama is the supreme ascetic king, and you fulfill all his tasks. Whoever brings their wishes to you attains boundless fruits of life.
चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा।
है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा।
साधु संत के तुम रखवारे।
असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे।
Your glory spreads across all four ages, illuminating the world. You protect saints and sages, destroy demons, and are beloved of Lord Rama.
अष्ट सिद्धि नौ निधि के दाता।
अस बर दीन्ह जानकी माता।
राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा।
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा।
Bestower of the eight supernatural powers and nine treasures, blessed by Mother Sita—you hold the elixir of devotion to Rama and forever remain his servant.
तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै।
जनम जनम के दुख बिसरावै।
अंत काल रघुबर पुर जाई।
जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई।
By singing your praises, one attains Rama and forgets the sorrows of countless lifetimes. At life’s end, one goes to Rama’s abode and is born as Hari’s devotee.
और देवता चित्त न धरई।
हनुमत सेइ सर्व सुख करई।
संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा।
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा।
No need to invoke other deities—Hanuman alone grants every joy. All crises vanish and every pain is removed by remembering the mighty Hanuman.
जय जय जय हनुमान गोसाईं।
कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं।
जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई।
छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई।
Victory, victory, victory to you, O Hanuman, master of senses! Shower your grace like a true Guru. Whoever recites this a hundred times is freed from bondage and attains great bliss.
जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा।
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा।
तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा।
कीजै नाथ हृदय महँ डेरा।
Those who read this Hanuman Chalisa gain perfection, witnessed by Lord Shiva. Tulsidas, ever the servant of Hari, prays: “O Lord, dwell in my heart.”
पवनतनय संकट हरन मंगल मूर्ति रूप।
राम लखन सीता सहित हृदय बसहु सुर भूप॥
O Son of the Wind, remover of obstacles and embodiment of auspiciousness! Dwell in my heart along with Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita, O King of the gods.
